Comfort and energy conservation are two things that are important to most people. Our TOPwindows are made of glass which are surrounded by polymer frames. The polymer frames offer the advantage that they do not conduct heat or cold. As a result, no cold is emitted and hardly any heat is lost through the frames.
Our TOPwindows can be supplied with single or double glazing. We can supply double glazing in two varieties, with the difference being in the thermal transmission. This thermal transmission is known as the U value and refers to the rate of heat transfer per second, per square metre, per degree of temperature difference through the glass. The lower the U value, the better the insulation.
Most standard double glazing is made up of 2 tempered window panes with a layer of air between them. The U-value of this double glazing is 3.1 W/m²K.
A better insulation R value is achieved with double glazing that is made using a special coating between the double glazing (LowE coating), combined with an Argon gas filling. The U value of this double glazing is 1.4 W/m²K.
Double glazing equipped with LowE coating combined with an Argon gas filling is more expensive than standard double glazing. However, the insulation value is more than twice as good and therefore provides the greatest comfort and energy conservation.
